Our Story

Beginning in 2023, Dr. Zach Hartman partnered with Alpine Surgical PC, before assuming leadership of the practice in 2025.  He brought advanced skills in robotic-assisted, and minimally invasive surgery, continuing Alpine Surgical's tradition of excellence and innovation in patient care. 

 

Alpine Surgical Associates marked a significant milestone in July 2025 with the retirement of founding surgeon Dr. Mark Hermacinski, who served the Steamboat Springs community for nearly three decades.​ Dr. Hermacinski founded Alpine Surgical Associates in 1998, bringing skilled, compassionate surgical care to patients across Northwest Colorado and Southern Wyoming.  A graduate of Chicago Medical School and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he completed his general surgery training at Marshall University and began his career with a year of service in Kathmandu, Nepal, at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Over the years, he became known for his dedication, surgical expertise, and long-standing commitment to the health of the Yampa Valley. With the help of his family, and office team, Alpine Surgical grew into a busy and respected practice in the region. ​

Dr. Hartman and Dr. Hermacinski ensured a continuous thread of care.​ This leadership handoff represented not only the close of an era, but also the beginning of a new chapter in Alpine Surgical’s enduring commitment to quality surgical care for Steamboat Springs and the mountain region.
